What is a myofunctional exam?

Here’s exactly what you’re booking:

• 60 minutes, one-on-one with Carmen. 
• 100% virtual. You’ll meet Carmen face-to-face on video, wherever you are. Impact serves clients across time zones and around the world.
• A full look at the whole picture — how you breathe, how you sleep, how your mouth and airway are actually functioning, and the history behind all of it.
• A written report you keep. After your exam, Carmen writes your Orofacial Myofunctional Findings & Recommendations Report — a clear, plain-language document that names what she found and lays out the step-by-step path forward.

That report is the point. You don’t leave with a shrug and a “let’s monitor it.” You leave with answers in writing.  And you know exactly what the next step is.

Why is there no “free assessment”?

A real answer requires a real look. Carmen can’t tell you what’s happening with your sleep or your child’s airway from a two-line email — and she won’t pretend to. The exam is the answer. That’s what the exam fee buys: a genuine clinical evaluation and a plan you can act on whether you continue with us or not.

If you’ve spent years and real money on things that didn’t work, you already know the difference between guessing and getting looked at. This is getting looked at.

What happens after you book an exam?

No guessing about next steps. Here’s the whole path:

1. You book and pay below. Pick your time on the calendar. You’re locked in.
2. You’ll get a confirmation with the link to prepare for your appointment. Download the paperwork, fill it out, send the photos + videos. Carmen reviews everything before your call, so no minute of your 60 gets wasted.
3. You meet Carmen for your exam. Sixty focused minutes. You’ll leave the call already understanding more than you did walking in.
4. Carmen writes your report. Your written Findings & Recommendations Report — what she found, what it means, what to do about it.
5. You’re offered a spot in therapy. If therapy is the right next step, Carmen offers you a spot and walks you through it. Your spot is held for one week. After that, it’s released to the next person on the waiting list.

Carmen Ball has been doing this work since 2017. She built Impact Myofunctional Therapy’s entire clinical approach, and she conducts every single exam herself.

Her lens is wider than most. Alongside myofunctional therapy, she’s trained in nutrition therapy, environmental toxins, airway dysfunction, and nervous system support — because you can’t fix sleep by ignoring the body it lives in.

How much is the exam, and what do I get?

The exam is $250 for a 60-minute virtual session with Carmen, plus a written Findings & Recommendations Report afterward that lays out what she found and what to do next.

Does the $250 count toward therapy?

No. The exam is a standalone service with its own deliverable — the written report. It stands on its own whether or not you continue into therapy.

Can I just ask a quick question about my sleep or my child first — for free?

We don’t offer free consults or case-specific answers before an exam, because a real answer needs a real evaluation. The exam is how you get that answer. Book it and you’ll get Carmen’s full attention.

Is it really all online? Where are you located?

Yes — everything is virtual. Impact HQ is based in Alabama and works with clients across time zones and around the world. You meet Carmen face-to-face on video.

Do you see kids?

Yes. The exam is the front door for both children and adults.

What happens after the exam?

Carmen writes your report and, when therapy is the right next step, offers you a spot. That spot is held for one week before it’s released.

Do you take insurance?

We don’t bill insurance directly. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds, and a superbill is available on request if you’d like to submit to your plan.
